Mirna’s Cuban Cuisine
Located just a short drive from the airport, Mirna’s is the place to go for a little taste of Havana. This restaurant currently has high ratings from all the review sites, such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google and Facebook.
Everything in this family restaurant is made fresh and from high-quality ingredients, including the desserts, and they not only serve large portions of food but they have terrific service as well. Their authentic Cuban sandwiches are especially delicious, and affordable, too. They also have great fritas and steak, as well as a number of chicken and fish dishes. And don’t forget to try the Cuban Expresso.

Muse at the Ringling
If you are looking for a more hip place to eat, you should give the Muse a try. Like Mirna’s, it’s only a stone’s throw from the airport at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, and it’s close to the New College of Florida as well. Also like Mirna’s, it has excellent ratings from the major review sites.
You’ll find the menu at the Muse upscale and contemporary. It is also a bit small, but all of their dishes are excellent. Seafood is their specialty, with great crabs and salmon, but they serve pasta, beef and chicken, too. If you’re in Sarasota on a Sunday, don’t forget to stop by for their brunch, which runs from 11 am to 3 pm.
Like Mirna’s, the Muse closes early at 8 pm, except on Mondays when it closes at 5 pm.
Captain Brian’s Seafood Market & Restaurant
If you have a hankering for seafood and a laid back atmosphere, Captain Brian’s might be just the place for you. Like the other two restaurants in this list, it’s located only a short distance from the airport and has excellent reviews.
This family restaurant serves fresh seafood from both Florida and New England. Among the excellent dishes they serve are live Maine lobster, snapper, scallops and swordfish steak. They also have a variety of shell fish and an excellent salad bar.
Captain Brian’s is open a little later than the other two restaurants — till 9 pm, though if you want to avoid the crowds, it is best to go there late in the afternoon or early in the evening.
